I can hardly believe it's been a year since we kicked off the meeting of the Greatest Minds in Boston. Make sure you come out, share your thoughts, meet some incredible people, network and learn.

fear no art!!!
I can't say enough about Fear No Art 3, so I won't say anything except GO! www.fearnoart3.blogspot.comIt's Juneteeth...did you hear that we're free?
Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. From its Galveston, Texas origin in 1865, the observance of June 19th as the African American Emancipation Day has spread across the United States and beyond. Today Juneteenth commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement. It is a day, a week, and in some areas a month marked with celebrations, guest speakers, picnics and family gatherings. It is a time for reflection and rejoicing. It is a time for assessment, self-improvement and for planning the future. Its growing popularity signifies a level of maturity and dignity in America long over due. In cities across the country, people of all races, nationalities and religions are joining hands to truthfully acknowledge a period in our history that shaped and continues to influence our society today. Sensitized to the conditions and experiences of others, only then can we make significant and lasting improvements in our society.

We're so trashy
The average American produces nearly 5 lbs of trash per day. We are the world's number 1 consumers and are definitely some of the world's best wasters too. If you're anything like me, you try to off-set the gigantic pile of trash we're making by using the 3R's - reduce, reuse, recycle. In case you didn't know, one of the C's in recycle is for COMPOST. The City of Cambridge has a great new program allowing you to bring food waste to a drop-off point for recycling. It's easy to use and all guidelines are listed on their website.

Hood Healthy
Interested in keeping it healthy for yourself and the environment? You should be. The Codman Square Farmers Market makes it easy for you to do just that. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of healthy options around the way, but maybe if we support the few choices we do have, more will start springing up. The Codman Square Farmers Market opens on June 25th and you have until the extended June 18th deadline to participate in the CSA (community supported agriculture). You pre-pay for a full share ($550) or a half share ($325) and for 19 weeks you get supplied with locally grown, organic produce. Good for the farmers, good for your body, good for your wallet. Much thanks to Al Willis for sharing this info!
Spend a night in Utopia

Last month at Utopia I danced until sweat poured into my shoes, I tried to take a break and folks pulled me back onto the dancefloor because the music was so hot they didn't want me to miss a minute. House, Old School HipHop, Soul. Utopia has it all. Who needs a gym membership when you can work of a month's worth of sins in one night of dancing?
Oh Man!
You don't want to miss Boston Progress' monthly open mic event East Meets Words at East Meets West Bookstore in Cambridge. I definitely suggest that you get their on time before it gets packed (as it usually does) and you're stuck standing outside looking longingly through the window at the standing room only crowd having a blast. This month, the featured poet is the oh so talented Jess Man. It doesn't get much better than $3 for inspiring art and incredible people all in one spot.
