great minds...

If you haven't heard about the Greatest Minds yet, then you definitely aren't hip to what's happening for brown folks in the Bean. But, that's why I'm here to put you on, right?

Greatest Minds is an inter-generational collective of Black Bostonians committed to developing strategies to solve community problems in leadership, education, politics, entrepreneurship, nightlife and networking in Boston. Young people, veteran community activists, corporate leaders, college students, educators, and next generation leaders have been coming together to share information and to develop action steps for Black Boston. For more information email the Greatest Minds.

Last night was the latest meeting of the Minds, where the focus was Boston's nightlife scene. A lot of folks complain that there's nothing to do at night here, but the truth of the matter is, there's A LOT going on. Yes, it could be better and that's what folks were building on at last night's meeting. There are a lot of people working hard to put on great events for you and I to enjoy (and hopefully to make some cheese for themselves in the process - can you say economic stimulus?). Here are just a few of the upcoming events that were mentioned last night:

WEDNESDAY: Poetic Escape @ Blue Wave (see yesterday's post).

THURSDAY: Socialite Thursdays @ District - 180 Lincoln St Boston, MA 02111. 21+. RSVP for FREE admission all night.

FRIDAY: First Fridays @ Whiskey Park - The Boston Park Plaza Hotel, 64 Arlington St., Boston. Business/Business Casual/Classy Upscale attire REQUIRED. Collared shirts for men. No athletic wear, hats or sneakers. Dress to Impress. For more information call (617)943-0656.

For my b-boys/b-girls, see yesterday's post on the Floorlords' event, United Styles 4.

SATURDAY: (again, see yesterday's post for info on the HipHop Fest and Influence Show).

A Night on the Roof of the Hyatt Regency Boston - 1 Avenue De Lafayette, Boston. Tickets $20. For more information visit www.gfhf.com:

SUNDAY:
Poetry Jam @ The Lizard Lounge - 1667 Mass Ave., Cambridge. $5. Poetry Slam starts at 7:30pm, followed by a featured poet and open mic accompanied by the incredible Jeff Robinson Trio. All that for $5. Can't beat it.

And for my house heads, as always there's Utopia @ An Tua Nua

There. Have a great weekend. Don't say I never gave you nuthin. Oh and, if I've left anything off the list, my apologies. The coffee hasn't kicked in yet. Hit up the comments section and share the 411.
